Learn Business and IT using the SAP ERP System

The most sought after information technology professionals today are no longer the technology-purists. Those with technology background, an understanding of the business domain and the ability to design and execute IT plans that can add business value will hold the greater edge in the job market.

Primary reasons include changes in consumer behavior, corporate mergers and acquisitions, business outsourcing, proliferation of mobile devices, growth in stored data, and transitioning business from recession to recovery. That is why companies are aiming to build an IT workforce that is outward-focused and business-oriented. IT will be very much involved in the business, a radical change from a pure support role.

From 2010, several major industry analysts are predicting the hottest jobs in IT will include business enterprise architects, business technologists, systems analysts and project managers. Technical skills are still important. However, business skills are increasingly required of IT roles. According to Gartner, there is an increasing trend to combine business and information management into a single business information manager IT role. Understanding the business, being able to re-engineer processes in such a way to streamline operations and optimizing IT projects will be top of mind for many hiring managers.

Nowhere is business information managers more needed than in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) industry, where SAP ERP is the most widely used. If you want to be at the forefront of Information Technology today, consider a career in Business Information Systems with a focus on SAP ERP.
